Laos, like the rest of the world, is experiencing the ongoing impacts of climate change, which also affects education. Students, especially disadvantaged children in remote or disaster-prone areas, are among the most impacted.
How can we help them cope?

Over the years, children in Laos have faced a shortage of textbooks and storybooks, resulting in a lack of enthusiastic readers. To address this issue, the USAID Learn to Read project has been instrumental in providing essential resources to children from pre-primary to grade 2 in four provinces of Laos. In 2024 alone, nearly 26,000 reading materials were distributed to the project’s innovative areas.

On 14th May, the Southeast Asia Regional Forum on Ensuring Equal Access to Quality Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) held in Vientiane, Laos; aiming to acknowledges the link between ECCE and equity, productivity, and sustainable development and therefore a positive and successful future for the children.
